Raymond L. Gregory II is a partner and 35-year trial lawyer who has successfully represented corporate, institutional, and individual clients in a wide variety of disputes.
Ray represents multiple national and international insurance clients and reinsurers in high-stakes coverage and “bad faith” litigation, as well as appraisal and arbitration proceedings. Additionally, Ray represents multiple Texas-based private companies as outside general counsel.
Based in the “World’s Energy Capital”, Ray’s representative matters often include energy companies, oilfield service companies, individuals, and insurance carriers involved in litigation matters related to energy and oil and gas. Entities rely on his expertise to help guide them through delay and business interruption claims; environmental and nuisance claims; employment and non-compete issues; trade secret theft and protection; personal injury defense; and contract claims.
Ray’s practice also routinely involves employment issues, as he has extensive experience drafting and litigating covenants not to compete and similar agreements designed to protect confidential and proprietary information. In this regard, he often provides counsel to employers and individuals in the negotiation, drafting, and litigation of employment contracts and separation agreements.
Throughout his career, Ray has been involved in numerous lawsuits and administrative proceedings related to school and public law. He has advised independent school districts, community colleges, and counties in litigation and in the negotiation of contracts, including inter-local agreements among public entities. Moreover, he has advised individuals and entities in negotiations with public entities concerning contracts, permitting, land use, and easements.
Ray is licensed to practice law in all Texas trial and appellate courts, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, and the United States District and Bankruptcy Courts for the Southern, Eastern, Northern, and Western Districts of Texas. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the State Bar of Texas Insurance Law section.
Although his practice is based in Houston/Harris County, Ray maintains a Statewide practice and routinely appears before State and Federal courts across Texas.
